Our founder: Diana Gamio
“Santa Mónica Crochet was born from the heart of Diana Gamio. A fashion designer by nature, she has been dedicated to the art of knitting for over 20 years. Born in Lima, Peru, in 1968, she learned this art from her grandmother, who instilled it in her from a very young age.
She began knitting, designing, and working with the weavers of the Vaso de Leche program in Musa, filling almost her entire house with knitted clothing, selling and giving it away only to her close acquaintances without any brand name.
In 2016, she began working with the artisan weavers at the Anexo prison. During the pandemic, she created Santa Mónica Crochet around 2020 and has been running the brand's workshops at the Virgen de Fátima and Santa Mónica de Chorrillos prisons.
Today, she has helped more than 50 women with families improve their lives and move forward through this beautiful art.”
